About

Annalise Gehling is a freelance dance artist and choreographer based in Los Angeles, CA. Gehling graduated magna cum Laude from Loyola Marymount University with a BA in Dance and minor in Theatre Arts. While there, Gehling studied under the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company x Dance Program partnership, received the Annette Simons Scholarship for her significant presence in both theatre arts and dance, and performed works by Rosalynde Leblanc, WHYTEBERG, Maureen Gonzales, Wideman Davis Dance, Teresa Heiland, and Kiera Breaugh. Outside of the university, Gehling has worked closely with Summation’s director Taryn Vander Hoop, as well as choreographed music videos for artists such as Avamarie, Posie Pocket, Kid Gloves and more. Gehling’s interest in multidisciplinary art, specifically the intersection of dance and film led her to direct and choreograph a dance film titled Dark Circles (In All Our Dirt and Glory), an investigation into the rewards and difficulties that come with exploring embodiment post trauma. Gehling’s new work will premiere at the Atwater Village Theatre this upcoming December as part of the Lavender show.
