Class begins with simple floor sequences designed to stretch, strengthen, and warm up the body and the mind. We will progress to a standing warm-up that strengthens the core and reinforces alignment to allow for freedom of the limbs. Emphasis is placed on weight, mobility, suspension, collapse, and projection into and through space. Class culminates in a vigorous phrase from our repertory or new work in progress requiring full-body involvement and expression. Summation Dance offers students a comprehensive and energetic exploration of the body, while encouraging them to continue discovering their own unique voice.

"The Summation Dance class is one of the most rewarding classes I have found in NYC. For one, the class is very diverse. There is a good mix of strengthening and phrase work. The movement itself is also well-balanced between more lyrical and more strong/harsh. My favorite part of the class is working on the combinations. The imagery is explained thoroughly; the combinations are fun and challenging; and, since enough time is allotted to this part of the class, I have enough time to explore, develop and perform the movement - what every dancer finds truly rewarding."
