Growing up in a suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota, drummer and composer Kyle Olson was exposed to the “Mini-Apple’s” tightly knit experimental music scene. Minneapolis encouraged his exploration of jazz, improvised, electronic, and minimalist music; a mix that formed the basis for his current aesthetic in dance accompaniment and composition. He currently supplies music for dance classes at NYU Tisch, Mark Morris Dance Center, and the Joffrey Ballet School. His past and current dance collaborations include Adele Myers and Dancers, Gerald Casel Dance Company, Cherylyn Lavagnino Dance, Julie Bour, Tiffany Rea-Fischer and Elisa Monte Dance, the Second Avenue Dance Company, and PARADIGM dance. Kyle also plays drums for numerous music projects; most notably, the chamber- pop outfit Friend Roulette.
