About
Yohta was born in Athens, Greece, where she received her teaching diploma from Niki Kontaxaki’s Professional Dance school in 2000, with training in Kinesiology. Her interest in movement exploration and body awareness grew when she traveled in Europe experimenting with various people through different cultures and move- ment styles. Seeking deeper understanding of the human body through dance, she moved to New York City in 2002 and studied in Movement Research and Dance Space Center. She completed her MFA in Dance and Choreography at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Yohta has performed with Quasi Stellar Dance Company and Carol Brown and she partici- pated as a dancer in the Olympics & Paralympics Opening Ceremony in Athens, 2004.
